When there is any problem with my net connection, I have to go to net café to download the files, which takes only 15 mins and costs Rs. 6/-, but burning them to CD costs Rs. 10/-. This is the situation if you browse at IWay and if you are surfing at local net cafes, it costs Rs. 10/- per hour only. If you have a USB drive, you can just insert it and write the data to your USB stick free of cost. This raised the need to purchase a USB stick. Also, I have to download the mails, which contains faxes and are important in my work. This is also a concern and led to purchase a USB drive, so that I can install portable Thunderbird and keep the mails up-to-date.
Portable applications made my life easy. I can run the browser with all my bookmarks, FTP, Thunderbird e-mail client, 7-Zip file archiver, Gaim messenger, and an antivirus, ClamWin.
These portable applications will run directly from your USB stick and you can carry your browser with all your bookmarks and e-mail client with all your e-mails with you wherever you go.
You can get all the portable applications on the site: http://portableapps.com/apps
