I have been subscribed to more than five groups and all these groups are hosted on Yahoo! Groups. Easy to use interface and lot of features made it more preferable. Three to four years ago, I have created a group on Google mainly to use for book marking of sites and content that I want to make a note (setting it as restricted and invitation only). There were no more options than sending a message and Yahoo! Groups attracted everyone with lot of options and user-friendly interface. Now, Google has redesigned Google Groups and I am very much pleased with the interface and options. New features include:
- Customization of group appearance, fonts, and colors.
- File sharing. Comes with 100 MB quota.
- Customizable welcome message and footer message attached to mails.
- Create web pages inside the group, publish, and share.
- Gmail’s message cards interface to follow the discussion with ease.
- Archiving of mailing list hosted on other services.
- Syndication of group messages and topics, available in Atom and RSS formats.
